Searching the NYC Council Hearing Transcripts

Here's a simple way to search our NYC Council Hearing Transcripts.  For the corresponding videos see https://city.tidalforce.org/nyc_council_videos.html

Go to http://bit.ly/nychearings and search for anything.

For example, if you are looking for references to a council person you might use:

• dromm
• Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/search?q=dromm

or if you'd like to search for council person cornegy in only pdf files and in the "committee on education" without the word "stated" and without "door alarms" without "avonte", you could search for:

• cornegy type:pdf "committee on education" -stated -"door alarms" -avonte
• Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/search?q=cornegy%20%22committee%20on%20education%22%20-stated%20-%22door%20alarms%22%20-avonte

This is very interesting because it shows when there are joint hearings between committees that they have duplicate transcripts.

What if I do not have a google account?  You will need a google account in order to search.  You can see and download all the files but we recommend using a google account for search functions. Also we recommend a newer google account with not a lot of files in google drive.  The reason is there does not seem to be a way to limit google drive search to only a particular folder.

What if search does not find anything?  It may take a few minutes for google to index the drive contents for your account.  Also, try adding the folder to your "My Drive"
